Police have detained two female caregivers to assist in investigations into the alleged physical abuse of four children at a kindergarten in Sungai Buloh. As reported by Bernama, the arrests were made yesterday after five separate police reports were lodged at the Saujana Utama police station concerning the incidents.
Sungai Buloh District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor stated that the authorities have also secured a video recording as key evidence. Initial investigations suggest the abuse took place between July and August last year, involving victims aged between five and seven years old.
The two suspects are currently under a five-day remand, as authorized by the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court. Mohd Hafiz added that the police are not stopping there, as another individual is expected to be called in shortly to have their statement recorded to provide further clarity on the situation.
The case gained significant public attention after a parent took to social media, claiming to possess footage of her child being mistreated at the Saujana Utama facility. The parent further alleged that the videos in her possession showed other children being subjected to similar abuse, sparking outrage among the local community.
Currently, the investigation is being conducted under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. Mohd Hafiz has advised the public to remain calm and avoid spreading false information or speculating on the case while the legal process is underway.
