The government is crediting RM100 to all Malaysians aged 18 and above this 9 February as part of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) programme, a cash aid initiative that was implemented in 2025.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said in his speech at a special monthly address in Putrajaya recently that the aid is for Ramadan and Chinese New Year preparations this year, The Star reported.
Meanwhile, Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) monthly recipients will receive RM200 in their MyKads beginning 9 January 2026.
The first phase of STR payments will see up to RM500 credited into the accounts of eligible Malaysians starting from 20 January 2026, according to the National Security Council (MKN).

How do I check my Sara or STR eligibilty?
To determine whether you are eligible for Sara or STR cash assistance, you will need to download the MyGOV application on your smartphone first. The app is available on Apple’s App Store, Google Play for Android users, and the Huawei App Gallery.
The app will show whether you are eligible or not, as well as the amount you are entitled to receive.
Do note that you will need to have a registered MyDigital ID, and ensure that the MyDigital ID app is updated to its latest version for a smooth process when logging into MyGOV.
If you don’t have a MyDigital ID, you can still check your one-off SARA eligibility and balance.
Visit the MyKasih website and enter your MyKad number.

Sara vs STR: What’s the difference?
Sara and STR are government aid programmes designed to ease the cost of living, but they differ in form and purpose.
STR provides direct cash assistance to eligible low- and middle-income individuals and households, allowing recipients to spend the money according to their needs. In contrast, SARA offers non-cash support in the form of credits loaded onto a recipient’s MyKad.
These credits can only be used at selected shops to purchase essential goods such as food and basic household items. SARA therefore complements STR by ensuring access to daily necessities.
