A caucasian man gained significant attention from Malaysians on social media after he was mistaken for an individual who tipped a food delivery rider with RM1,000 in cold, hard cash recently.
Brandon Grogan, who goes by @brandongan on TikTok, uploaded a video of himself speaking about the unexpected traction he gained on the popular social platform while he casually prepares a sandwich in his kitchen.
“I’m going viral in Malaysia for tipping a food delivery guy a ton of money. The only problem is, I’ve never been to Malaysia and that’s not me in the video,” he said.
According to Grogan, someone left a comment saying “I think the guy who left the tip is Brandon Gan”.
He then pointed out that Brendon Gan is a professional football player. However, it seems that when users searched Brendon Gan on TikTok, his account pops up first for some reason.
“I was just chilling and hanging out and then I noticed I had hundreds of thousands of views from Malaysia,”he said.

Last week, footage from a food delivery rider’s helmet camera went viral after he received a roll of RM1,000 in cash from his customer as a tip. The man who gave the generous tip was a foreign man named Brandon.
Brandon told Rafiuddin, the delivery rider, that he was moving out of the country soon and has no use for Malaysian Ringgit where he was going, and insisted that Rafiuddin have it.
Many were genuinely happy for him, saying that he deserved the big tip for being a hard worker. But some were not happy about it as the viral incident came at a time when people have been complaining about riders asking for tips.
For Rafiuddin, it was just a lucky break. If you think about it, it could have happened to anyone. Even you.
